Steve MacDonald

Steve’s background in hospitality and farming has given him a great basis for a successful accounting career. The hospitality career with Matilda Bay Brewing Company saw Steve rise to a management position by the age of 20. This experience provided a great base of customer service. This was further enhanced locally by supporting wife Deb with her catering business. Being brought up on the family beef cattle farm coupled with operating intensive horticultural farming operations on our Northcliffe farm and share farming at Lake Muir has given Steve a unique understanding of the challenges and rewards of farming life.

Steve began his long association with Yield Accounting Group formally Hampton Partners in 1997. Having completed his Bachelor of Business degree in 1998, he continued study to complete his CPA qualification in 2002. In 2006 he negotiated with Ray and took on an equity position as co-owner in Hampton Partners Manjimup office. Just prior to this, Steve completed his public practice certificate with CPA Australia enabling him to partner a practice. Steve also saw the need to be knowledgeable in many areas especially in relation to financial planning and superannuation so enhanced existing knowledge by completing a Diploma in Financial Planning in 2010 Steve’s latest study achievement has been completing the ASIC 146 requirements for providing superannuation advice through Pinnacle Financial Services Academy in July 2016

With his background and the establishment of Yield Accounting Group in June 2016 with co-directors Derek Brown and Lee-Anne Pardini Steve is looking to capitalise on efficiencies gained through a new service model and harnessing cloud accounting technologies to continue to provide exceptional service to new and existing superannuation and business clients.

Steve is blissfully married to Deb and has three marvellous children Zoe, Tom and Enya who are now young adults.  Zoe is finalising her social work degree, Tom is completing third year uni studying Finance and Marketing and Enya is in year 12. Steve enjoys the release from accounting work by developing the family’s 25 acre property in Dingup.

Steve enjoys sport as a participant and spectator and still enjoys a hit with the Northcliffe Cricket Club and is an active member at Pemberton Golf Club.  Steve also loves fishing and exploring the southern coast line. Steve’s pursuit of trekking has resulted in him, with a group of like-minded crazy people, travelling to Tasmania, New South Wales and the Kokoda track in Papua New Guinea as well as numerous trips on the Bibbulmun and Cape to Cape tracks.

Steve is excited about the prospects for Yield Accounting Group which aims to see strength in service and growth built around collaboration, technology and an exceptional team of experienced and dedicated staff. The firm aims to be an excellent corporate citizen in Manjimup and Pemberton and provides exciting career opportunities for local accounting aspirants.
